Below is a list of quick answers to the questions we hear most often.
Do I have to rebuild my Archer implementation?
No. We copy your database into our environment intact — configurations, record data, history logs, dashboards, reports, and form layouts all carry over. You don't restart your implementation or retrain your users. More on migrations →
Can I migrate to an out of the box instead?
Some clients choose to start fresh, with a new environment when they move to SaaS. This typically happens when they feel that they have over configured or heavily customized their environment, and feel it's gotten to the point where they feel it's lost value due to complexity. We can support this option, and may help think through data migration a bit more. Typically we would set up a clean instance, then users could use our data import feature to import there record data into the right applications.
Will the interface change for my users?
Only when you decide. The new UI can be toggled on and off, so you control when (and whether) users experience it. Until then, everything looks exactly as it does today. More on the new UI →
How can I see release notes?
We have consolidated our release notes in the Archer Help Center. Click Here to see Release notes on Archer Help →
How often is Archer SaaS Updated?
SaaS is made up of multiple components, all of which need updates. We do about five major releases to the platform each year, while our New UI gets updates every two weeks. Most have very small outage times, or no outage times at all. We keep you informed about any expected downtimes in our SaaS Announcements page on the community.
Where do I find the upgrade schedules?
We post our upgrade schedule, and notifications about upgrades on the community in the "SaaS Announcements" page. To navigate there, go to the community, click Product -- Archer GRC Platform -- Archer SaaS Announcements. Or click the link here: Archer SaaS Announcements on the Community
How long does a migration take?
Plan for one business day of downtime. We perform one migration per day, scheduled around your timeline. More on scheduling →
Is my data secure in a multi-tenant environment?
Yes. No data is accessible by anyone other than you. Each instance is logically separated fromall other instances. If you have stricter requirements, we also offer dedicated database infrastructure and single-tenant deployments. More on security →
Do I lose control over my configurations?
No. Your admins still configure everything they do today. Archer manages the infrastructure and platform; you keep full control of your solutions, workflows, and data. More on the shared ownership model →
Who decides when upgrades happen?
There are five scheduled releases per year, announced a year in advance, with production updates landing three weeks after non-production. You always have time to validate. More on upgrades →
Can we choose the days we upgrade?
Unfortunately no. We plan all of our upgrades for the year in advance, and stick to the schedule. We first apply upgrades to non-prod environments for three weeks before prod, allowing our clients to test our upgrades before we apply to production. If there is a major issue, we will not push the upgrade to production. More on upgrades →
What about performance — won't other clients slow me down?
Our architecture is built to prevent "noisy neighbor" effects through rate limiting, a database Resource Governor, and scale-out caching. More on performance →
Where will my instance be hosted?
In the AWS region for your service offering (US, EMEA, APJ, Canada, UAE, or India), across multiple availability zones. See the full region list →
Does SaaS actually cost less than on-premise?
For most clients, yes, once you account for the infrastructure, staffing, and maintenance you no longer carry. Ask your account team for a custom TCO analysis. More on economics →
What features do I get on SaaS that I can't get on-premise?
The new UI, Personal Access Tokens, Smart Data Publication, Slack/Teams notifications, admin activity logs, and the Archer Chatbot, among others. See SaaS-only features →
How do I find out what migrating my specific instance involves?
Check out our page on migrations. Filling out the SaaS Readiness Assessment will be the most informative. Talk to your account team for an instance review. More about migrations →
