Cross Reference Field

I recently duplicated and renamed an existing application and its associated questionnaire. In the new questionnaire, I updated the target application field to point to the newly created application. I also established a cross-reference field linking the new application to the new questionnaire.

However, when a user clicks the "Add New" button from the cross-reference grid within the application, the newly opened questionnaire record does not automatically link back to the parent application. Instead, it prompts the user to manually select the target application again.

Why is this auto-population failing despite the cross-reference configuration, and how can I ensure the parent application ID is passed automatically upon record creation?

  I believe you are still not having the new reference field in the layout. Remove the old reference field and the new Cross Reference or the related record in the layout.

  I believe when you set a Questionnaire's target, it's enforced via a cross reference/related record field pair so you should not need to create a 2nd cross reference field.  I'd go to App Builder and confirm how many cross reference or related record fields you have from the App to the Questionnaire.  If more than 1, delete the one that you manually created.  Use the 1 created via the Questionnaire's target selection.
