We're excited to introduce a powerful new feature — receive real-time notifications directly on Slack. With this integration, end users can stay on top of important updates right within their Slack workspace, ensuring faster response times and smoother collaboration. Notifications will come from the Archer Slack App, conveniently located in the lower-left section of your Slack UI alongside your other apps — keeping you informed, connected, and in control.
Functionality overview
End users will receive Slack notifications that mirror the content of the corresponding email notifications.
The Slack message will include the subject, body, header, footer, and hyperlinks, identical to the email notification.
Text formatting, such as bold, italics, and strikethrough, will be preserved in the Slack notification if present in the email notification
The Archer Slack app is designed for one-way communication, meaning it solely delivers Archer notifications to Slack. It does not support replying to notifications or performing any other actions
Multiple instances support
This feature supports multiple instance connection (across prod and non prod) to a Slack workspace. For example if a customer has 2 non prod and 1 prod instance and 1 slack workspace, the archer admin of each instance will be able to connect and disconnect from Slack independent of each other by the flow mentioned above.
Also the end user will know as which instance he/she received the slack notifications from as Instance credentials will be mentioned in the slack message as well.
Type of notifications supported
Archer Slack app supports all type of notification except the Action by email notifications which have action button (E.g. like confirm or Reject) in them.
How to enable it?
To enable, please open a case with Archer Support via the Portal on the Archer Community. In the Subject & Description fields, request to enable the ‘Notification in Slack’ feature and choose ‘SaaS Requests’ as the Affected Area Category. Upon confirmation the feature has been enabled, follow the process listed below to configure.
This feature is enable by the Archer Admin on an instance basis through the Admin Panel. In the global notification page (under Notifications in the Admin Panel), a new "Connect" button is available within Slack notification settings. Only an admin has the authority to enable or disable Slack Integration.
To connect to Slack, the admin must click on "Connect", after which they will be prompted to grant certain permissions. This step is skipped for Slack workspaces without restrictions.
Upon approval, the admin is redirected back to the global notification page, where a pop-up message confirms "Connection established successfully" if the setup is completed successfully. Additionally, the "Connect" button in Slack notification settings changes to "Disconnect", indicating a successful connection to Slack.
Once the Archer Admin completes this configuration, email notification recipients for that specific instance will also receive corresponding Slack notifications via the Archer Slack app.
Disconnecting from Slack
The Archer Admin can disconnect from Slack at any time by clicking the "Disconnect" button on the Global Notifications page. Once disconnected, Slack notifications for that instance will be disabled.
Known Behaviors
----This functionality is available only for customers using enterprise version of Slack.
--The slack app is not supported for sending message to Slack group channels, it supports sending messages to only individual users/channels on Slack.
--Group email messages (Distribution lists) are not supported. In the recipient list if there are Archer group present, there will be no corresponding slack message for those.
--This functionality is available for only Archer SAAS customers. It is not available for On Prem customers.
--Slack Integration can only be enabled when mail notifications are enabled
--For every end user to use Slack app, the mail ID should be present in the Archer system and there should be a corresponding slack ID present-then only Archer notifications could be received in Slack
--Attachments are not supported in the Slack app. As such for notifications like scheduled report report distribution where attachment is present, corresponding slack notification will be send but without attachments.
Note
The Notification in Slack feature is currently in a controlled release for a limited audience as we work towards its' registration on the Slack App Marketplace. This phased approach ensures a smooth rollout and targeted access prior to broader availability and the Slack integration will initially be made available to the first 30 clients requesting access.
