We are excited to announce a major upgrade to data exports in Archer! The new Export Service is designed to make exporting faster, more flexible, and less disruptive to Archer users’ workflow.
What’s New?
Unlike the classic export process, which required you to stay on the screen until the file was generated, the new service runs asynchronously. This means you can keep working while your export runs in the background.
Once your export is complete:
- You will receive a mail notification stating that export is complete.
- The exported file will be logged in the Export Activity section.
- You can see the key details regarding your exported file including file type, volume, processing status, and availability of the exported output in Export Activity Section.
Current Capabilities
- Supported User Experience: NGRX
- Export type: Search results (record page exports are coming soon!)
- Formats available: Excel, CSV, and XML
Among other features, Support for In-app notification is in our roadmap.
How is new Export service different?
Current NGRX Export Process
When you click the Export button, the file generation starts immediately, but you must stay on the export screen until the process finishes. Once complete, the file appears in your Downloads.
New Export Service
With the new service, this waiting period is eliminated. Simply click the Export icon, and the process runs asynchronously in the background. You can continue working without interruption. Once complete, you will be notified, and the file will appear in Export Activity without requiring you to stay on the export screen.
Downloading Export File
The Export Activity tab provides a clear summary of all your exports. It is located under the Activity icon in the top-right corner, alongside application activity.
Within this tab, you can view:
- File name
- Supported format
- File size
- Requested date
- Status (including if a file is still processing)
You also have access to previously downloaded export files, making it easy to track and manage your data exports over time.
Roll Out plan
The new Export Service is now available in all clients‑accessible non production environment and is will soon be available in Prod environments. The release details will be shared shortly.
We look forward to getting your teams onboarded and hearing your feedback as you begin using the new export experience
Note:
- The Legacy Search Export supported RTF, PDF, Excel, XML, CSV and HTML file. But the new export supports Excel, XML and CSV format. This decision has been taken considering the usage patterns of our clients and removing those with minimal adoption.
- As part of this release, the new Export Service will be available for Search Export, while Record Page Export will continue to use the Classic Export. Implementing the Advanced Export for Record Page Export is planned as the next priority.
- With the updated Search Export experience, the behavior has changed from the earlier version-exported files will no longer appear in the Download section. Instead, users can track export status and access Exported files through the Export Activity tab, available under the Activity icon on the Home page. Exported files will remain accessible there for 7 days after export. We are also working on enhancements to export status notifications, including clearer communication of this change, to further improve the overall user experience in subsequent release.
- We taken the feedback for enhancing the export notifications to include more relevant information. This will be available in the export service shortly. Note that this update will override all existing export notifications, including any customizations made by admins.
